| 内容記述 | The Brontes present a rare, almost a unique example in English literature of collective genius...It was not only a bond of the flesh but a union of the spirit that held them together, sprang as they were from a commonsoil‐as the cascades and waterfalls of their native moorlands gush from the hillsides of their own momentum and plunge into deeps invisible at their source.にみられるように,Victorian Age (1837～1901)の英国の小説界に特異な存在意義を有するCharlotte, Emily, Ann の Bronte 姉妹の作品をとりあげる場合には,必ずといってよい程,彼等三姉妹(厳密にいえば,男子の Branwell をも含むが)を深く結びつけている共通の環境要素一すなわち,一般的な意味での姉(兄)妹の親密さ(abondofflesh)をはるかに超越した連帯意識と,英国東北部特有のmoorlandsというnatural circumstances の中で育くまれた彼等のformative yearsおよびその結果としての`a union of thespirit'ともいうべきものについて言及されている． | |||||||||
